What’s all this, then?

This is a newsletter about fitness trends and how most of them are bullshit.

Why should I listen to you?

I’m a lifelong fitness enthusiast, but at the same time, I’m not a gym bro. Fitness isn’t my whole life.

I think most people could be a little fitter, and if they were, they’d probably be a little happier.

So, I want to bring something that proposes that fitness isn’t just for people who are devoted to it like a creepy cult or something, and it doesn’t have to be an all-consuming thing.

Disclaimer

No, I’m not a doctor of any kind.

I do NOT have an official degree of any sort that’d make sense with this.

Although I DO have a masters in Library Science with a specialty in medical libraries, so I am pretty good at researching and understanding data.

And I HAVE been both a serious runner and a serious weightlifter (not to mention learning the harsh lesson about trying to be both of those things at the same time).

Everything I recommend here is a best guess at what will work for the largest number of people, and some of you will have limitations that make these recommendations impossible. Just keep in mind that I’m recommending a true middle ground, a compromise point, and individuals will need to tailor everything for their personal needs, goals, and abilities.

I know, after this, it’s like, “Why would I listen to you?”

Well, I think this will be entertaining, but more than that, most of what I said above is true of MOST fitness “experts.” They just don’t type it so clearly.
